One Small Wiki Favour is a project to improve the Gemini Station Wiki, where wiki users can contribute to a number of ongoing wiki tasks. Anyone is welcome to participate, whether you're completely new to the wiki or you've been here for a while. If you have not edited before, then this is a great time to get involved!

To participate in this project, take a look at the tasks below and find one that looks exciting. Each task has some advice on how to effectively tackle it, but we strongly recommend joining the #wiki channel in our Discord to coordinate with other editors, and discuss the project. If you do not wish to create a discord account you get help via the talk (discussion) page or by contacting the co-ordinator via their talk page.

Missions

Creating Mission Infoboxes for every mission on Gemini Station.

In order to finish our Mission Project we need to create infoboxes for every mission on Gemini Station. This requires super amount of time to put it together and also get it sorted.

This is an ongoing project to add every single mission available to the wiki. Story, General Missions, Trade Missions, Misc Missions...anything that is considered a mission in Gemini Station needs to be added. This also included all information for Encounters as well.
  • Missions Information need to be placed on the Missions page.
  • Encounter Information needs to be placed on the Encounters page.

How to get started? Basically, there are several things that are needed to complete a mission card for the wiki:

  1. Name of the Mission
  2. Mission ID
  3. Mission Description
  4. Mission Character/Static Image (If present)
  5. Condition of the Mission (Objective)
  6. Mission Details (Difficulty, Ship Type, Steps)
  7. Rewards (Exact Info)
  8. Step Description (Info that is given after each step when viewing the mission details)

This is all required when putting a Mission Card together.

How to make a Mission Card? Refer to Template:Event for more details on how to make a Mission Card. Banri has all the raw data so just ask for the data to start making infoboxes. You will need to use your personal sandbox to create the infoboxes first before actually submitting them to the main page.

Current Priorities Priorities are in order from first to last what is needed the most.

  1. Missions
  2. Encounters

Categories

Categorization on pages where necessary

There are many pages on the wiki currently that are missing categories, categories that are incorrect and also pages with old categories which do not line up with the new category tree. (You can find this new tree on the sidebar called: Wiki Index)

To get started with this task, there are two paths but both need to be done.
  1. Old categories - You can find this by going to the old category tree, Category:Gemini Station, which needs to be deleted after its emptied. When it is empty, label the page with Template:Rfd so those with page deletion permissions can find it easily on the maintenance page. (Those with deletion permissions such as moderators and custodians can skip the labeling). Each page in the old categories need to be adjusted to the new category tree.
  2. Pages missing categories - Navigate to Special:UncategorizedPages, Special:UncategorizedTemplates and Special:UncategorizedFiles to find the pages, templates and files that are missing categories and sort them using your best judgement with the new category tree. If you are confused or stuck, you can always ask for help.

Patch Note Rework

Reworking patch note pages to the new format.

With the new format for the Patch Note pages, All the current patch note pages need to be redone.

To start this task, Navigate to this page, and view its source. The new format is the {{Patch notes}} template and also the context div box for the patch notes message. At the bottom of the page is the correct categorization. Note that patch notes from 2019 need to be categorized to 2019 and so on. Be sure to also watch for the title of the page, Banri modified the code that runs this wiki to be able to hide the Update: namespace so the page only reads Patch Notes: (date). You will also notice that the date is grey and abit smaller, this was the intended goal when hiding the namespace. If after submitting the final change with the patch notes template included and the namespace is still there...force it to hide by using {{Display title}}.

Template:ToC

Restructure pages with better Table of Contents

Pages that have a lot of: Page content and headers. Template:ToC helps push the Table of Content to left, or right alignment to better suit the way articles read.

This task is pretty simple. When browsing the wiki, if you find a page that has a long ToC or a page that might need it, add the template to the page.

Redirects and Disambiguation

Redirect Pages need to be made

Browsing the wiki needs to be smooth for users coming to the wiki for answers to questions or to browse what type of content Gemini Station has. Ensuring that they get to the destination their searching for is majorly important.

To start this task, follow the steps below:
  1. Familiarize yourself with how Redirecting works by reading the guide here.
  2. Familiarize yourself with how Disambiguation works by reading the guide here, and also the template documentation linked on the page.
  3. Read the documentation of Template:Shortcut. This template works with shortened names and abbreviated for redirects on the wiki.
  4. Every page the wiki needs some form of redirect or disambiguation, this ensures users are getting to the right pages they are searching for.
Note: It can also help to keep track of the Special:RecentChanges page to see if new pages by Noresist are made, or by other users and check to see if it needs shortcuts, redirects and other forms of formatting.

Update history

Add the patch notes from different updates to relevant pages

One of our newest (and most ambitious) projects is to document information about how game updates have affected content over time. Some editors are currently working through old patch notes and copying them on to pages of content that was affected by each patch.

This information is organised chronologically in a new section called "Update history" which is being added to pages. You can help by doing this for the patch notes listed below. There is a project page which explains how to add in a new patch note here.

Here's some that we have not been done yet: The List

Please mark them off on both pages when you're done!

Lore, History and Biographies

Adding the lore of Gemini Station to the wiki, as well as the histories behind each character and local if there are any.

This is a new wiki project that involves adding alot of backstory content of Gemini Station.

A Wiki is more than just a collective groups of pages with info on how to play the game, it is a repository of information for everything related to Gemini Station. Which means; Lore, Histories, Character Biographies, Trivia...etc. Some users out in the world love to browse wikis like Banri . So adding this content opens the wiki up to being Gemini Station's largest respository of information. This is an encylopedia for Gem after all.
