Shortcuts:

New users are constantly joining the wiki, creating accounts, and beginning what we hope to be long and fulfilling terms as editors. The world of wikis can be a harrowing, confusing place for someone who has never contributed before, and having someone show them their first steps can be a lifesaver.

There are editors who take it upon themselves to steer these up-and-coming contributors in the right direction. A bot will also do so by adding {{Welcome}} to the talk pages of new users. This automatically adds the welcome template to their page, as well as your name and the date.

Welcome!

Hello, $4, and welcome to the Gemini Station Wiki! We're happy to see new editors making contributions. Here are a few links you might find helpful:

Editing

  • If you'd like suggestions on where to contribute you can check out the work needed page.
  • If you plan on making any major changes it is recommended to read the article guidelines first, or visit the complete guide list here.
  • For major article changes it is best to experiment on your sandbox page before publishing the final revision. To do this, create a page named like this: User:YourWikiName/Sandbox
  • It is advised to read the full user guidelines before any edits are made to avoid any issues which would come back later. Proper use of wiki commands and tagging is highly recommended when editing.
  • It is advised also to review how to use Templates when editing, this is also highly recommended to use certain templates when actively editing an existing page.

Talk pages

  • Feel free to discuss articles on their discussion page (the second tab above the article's name).
  • You can ask help through the talk pages of the wiki volunteer staff.
  • To sign your messages with username and the date, type ~~~~ (But add 4 tildes).
  • For more info how to use a signature in talk pages see Signatures.
  • For more info how to use talk pages see Talk pages.

General

  • It is advised to setup a profile here before getting started. That way you are fully established as part of the wiki editor team. You can personalize it at anytime!
  • You can remove this message by editing your user talk page and removing the {{Welcome}} tagline.
  • Anyone can contribute to the wiki. If you spot anything in need of improvement, feel free to make an edit.

And again, welcome to the wiki! ~ Gemini Station Wiki Community

If you have any trouble, feel free to ask questions on the user help page, or on Discord, where a lot of our editors hang out.
