Cargo shielding is a mechanic to protect your cargo. When your ship is attacked and defeated, any cargo that is exposed can be pillaged. Each ship's base cargo capacity includes that same amount of shielded cargo.

Ship Base Cargo Shielding:

Fighters from Light to Tempest have 10 cargo shielding.

Scouts from Recon to Harbinger have 5 cargo shielding.

Freighters from Light to Cerberus have 15 cargo shielding.

JayCo tankers have 100 cargo shielding.

Dreadnought has 30 cargo shielding.

Sentinel has 10 cargo shielding.

Crusader has 15 cargo shielding.

Cargo shielding Controversy:

Some players claim that cargo shielding is to overpowered and should be nerfed by lowering cargo shielding overall or by adding in an option to disable mods.
