Chapter II: Fly Casual (Mail)

  • From Gemini Station [N8]
  • Subject Chapter II: Fly Casual
  • Welcome back. I’m still getting preliminary reports from Mars. I’m monitoring ship to ship communications rather than connecting directly to the MarNet relays. The last thing we need is anyone trying to send anything to Gem.
  • It sounds like the main metallurgy lab was destroyed along with everyone inside. Several meatbag ships were damaged and a hundred or so transport drones were destroyed.
  • Whoever detected those scans do not want to be found. My passive scanners are still picking up the energy signature so I know they’re out there. But the last thing I’m going to do is upload this sensor profile. And neither are you.
  • We need to find a way to shield the sensor. We’ve got to be able to activate it without them knowing it’s activated. I have someone in mind who might be able to help us but first we need to lay low.
  • Your ship was logged as being present on Mars so we need to convince anyone who might come looking that you’re just a simple trader and not a Gem agent. That means you need some trade flights logged. I rewrote your ship logs so it appears you’ve just been making trade runs over the past few days. But whoever is out there is going to be watching everyone who was on Mars and that means you. So you need to spend some time looking like a boring old trader.
  • I’ve sent a new mod to your mod locker. Call it 'camouflage'. It’ll expand and shield your cargo hold; very official-looking. Anyone scanning you will think you’re a standard trader.
  • I’ve sent the specifics to you ship’s Mission Log.
  • We got lucky this time
  • Off you go.
