Intel
Intel is an alternative form of currency. It can be acquired by hacking other ships and locations, and by completing select missions.
Intel Uses
Intel can be used in various ways. Intel can be used as currency on Eris' black market
Black Market
See Black Market for more information on this topic.
Hacking
Pilots can spend intel to hack other player's ships. Hacked ships can have their shields drained/boosted, engines drained/boosted, or jettison unshielded cargo. See Hacking for more information on this topic.
Selling
Intel can be sold to Earth, Mars, Jupiter, or Eris. The price per intel each faction is willing to pay varies based on how much intel they currently have on hand, and what the maximum amount of intel they need. Both the amount of intel each faction has and how much they want is classified information, but their intel exchange rate and their current intel needs are made known.
Each faction has a base exchange rate. This number indicates how much they're willing to pay for intel in the event their intel stores are fully depleted. As their intel stores are refilled––from pilots selling intel to the faction––the amount they're willing to pay decreases.
When a faction has reached max intel capacity, their dollar-to-intel exchange rate will be 1:1...weak-sauce deal if you ask me.
Faction Intel Usage
The good news is that each faction uses intel fairly quickly. Every minute, there is a 33% chance that a faction will use between 1-500 intel. This 33% roll happens for each faction individually, as well as the intel amount used roll.
