The Ceres Mining Outpost is located in the heart of the astroid belt. Pilots can visit the mining outpost to mine and/or scavenge discarded items.

Ceres is located in the heart of the astroid belt.

Location Details

Location

The Ceres Mining Outpost is located 500 M from Gemini Station. The outpost can be reached in 10 minutes with a speed of 50 M / minute.

Station Facilities

The Ceres Mining Outpost is not supported by any faction. As a result, there is no store, mod shop, or any other station services available.

Lore

A group of miners discovered that valuable, rare resources exist within Ceres' crust. A public mining system was established, allowing anyone to mine the ever-deepening tunnel towards Ceres' core.

Mining

Pilots can mine Ceres using mining grenades and their ship's energy.

Overview

To mine on Ceres, the pilot must have at least one (1) Mining Grenade and one (1) Energy in their ship. When combined, the pilot's ship's energy powers the mining system, sending the grenade to the bottom of the shaft. Once detonated, the mining system then retrieves whatever items were revealed in the explosion. The pilot has the option to claim the items and store them in their ship (as cargo space allows), or reject the items.

Items that are rejected are jettisoned on the surface of Ceres where any other pilot is free to salvage them.

Progress

With each successful grenade detonation, the mining shaft length is increased by one meter.

Duds

There is a 5% chance that the mining grenade fails to detonate. == Energy

Bulk Mining

If you have enough energy and mining grenades, you can bulk mine up to 20 times per round.

Ceres' Layers

Ceres has five (5) regions that make up its crust in addition to a Rhodium and Platinum core. Once the core is reached, pilot miners will be able to mine the valuable metals that make up Ceres' core. Once all metal accessible from that mining shaft have been depleted, a new shaft will need to be dug.

The Crusts of Ceres
Layer Depth (Meters Minable Items
1 10,000 Astroid Fragments, Rock Dust, Silica Gem, Iron Ore, Polished Diamonds, Compacted Iron Ore, Gemstones
2 100,000 Astroid Fragments, Rock Dust, Silica Gem, Iron Ore, Polished Diamonds, Compacted Iron Ore, Gemstones, Titanium, Platinum, Compacted Gold
3 250,000 Astroid Fragments, Rock Dust, Silica Gem, Iron Ore, Polished Diamonds, Compacted Iron Ore, Gemstones, Titanium, Platinum, Compacted Gold
4 500,000 Astroid Fragments, Rock Dust, Silica Gem, Iron Ore, Polished Diamonds, Compacted Iron Ore, Gemstones, Titanium, Platinum, Compacted Gold
5 750,000 Astroid Fragments, Rock Dust, Silica Gem, Iron Ore, Polished Diamonds, Compacted Iron Ore, Gemstones, Titanium, Platinum, Compacted Gold
Core 1,000,000 Astroid Fragments, Rock Dust, Rhodium, Platinum, Compacted Gold

Nearly every item except for Rhodium can be found in every layer of Ceres. However, veins of more valuable items appear in much smaller quantities in the shallower layers.
