Talk:Core Mechanics

Revision as of 19:03, 24 January 2020 by Banri (talk | contribs) (Page Requires Update: new section)

I get the impression from reading this page that how the formulas actually work isn't really well understood by the players yet, the content of the targeting vs. evasion section seems especially confusing. It seems to imply that a lower roll is better (except for a 1) and that only the attacker gets a roll. In-game tooltips suggest that this is actually an opposed d100 roll, meaning both the attacker and defender get a roll with their respective bonuses, in which case it's simply a matter where the higher result wins. This second option is how percentile usually works in actual tabletop games. Waiting to get a second opinion from a more senior wiki editor before I change anything more drastically than just removing % signs. --Squid (talk) 02:54, 24 January 2020 (UTC)

The additions you are speaking about need to be cross-checked with Noresist. This page is actually the same from the website. Until he changes the contents of this page. Major edits for this page need to be run by me & him. Please read your talk page when u get the chance. ~ Banri (talk) 05:43, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
I did read the page, sorry I didn't let you know. Most wikis just take for granted that people can follow instructions :P I checked with noresist before registering here, so the confirmation from him is in DM since I didn't have access to the wiki channel yet. --Squid (talk) 11:58, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
Agreed. Most ppl do take for wikis for granted. Stellaris Wiki, Monster Hunter Wiki and several other wikis i've been with through the 8 years of my wiki experience all make sure to enforce the rules, template use (ambox, categorization), and proper styling are done on the wiki. You do not need to check Noresist to register, but you do need to check with him before editing pages taken from the website. I'll be sure to note down on pages from the website. ~ Banri (talk)
Gotcha, I think I worded part of that poorly, what I meant is that I checked with noresist about the use of % before bothering to register and edit it. He said that he's phasing out the use of % for those stats. Hence the edit so that the wiki reflects that direction that the game is going (and has partially gone so far). In other words, I already did all of that stuff before editing it. ;) --Squid (talk) 17:49, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
Fantastic, most ppl do not go around and get permission and just blatantly go and edit large chunks of data without authorization or getting their wiki role established first. Properly run wikis are wikis that will be always successful. Seems all good on my end then, have at it :P (Make sure to set up a profile Profile Outline) ~ Banri (talk) 18:25, 24 January 2020 (UTC)
