Sensor Range limits the range you can interact with another ship in the same space lane. This mechanic compares the player's percentage remaining of their trip to other ships in the area. If your ship's trip completion percentage is within 25% of another ship's completion percentage, then you can interact (scan, boost, drain, attack, hack) that ship.

The range color tags are as followed:
+50% Away - Red
30%-49% - Orange
26%-29% - Yellow
1%-25% - In range.
